The Studio Stool’s primary function is as a curated archival database focusing on photography in Zambia. The website has been developed in a way that allows for the images to be seen, enjoyed, appreciated, while also giving it the capacity, at a future stage, to add collections other than those of Fine Art Studios. Ultimately, the goal is to find more images that would generally not have a home in the National Archives of Zambia, and instead to formulate another archive altogether – a social history photographic archive of Zambia. This can be a space where photographers and families can have their photographs of life in Lusaka scanned and digitised in exchange for their contribution to the database. For now, however, is the website’s function to repatriate discarded photographs found at Fine Art Studios.
